Making of Quantum Revolution
From wireframes to prototypes to storyboards to finished videos, none of this was as difficult as just understanding quantum mechanics. I led the work on the LMS UX/UI, developed the course brand and design brief, storyboarded and illustrated the explainer video, and created the static images.
The LMS needed some work. The site navigation was too dominant and left the course navigation difficult to find and use. User flows (with personas) from registering to completion were created. Also, after discussion with content creators, we developed guidelines for what and how much content would appear in each page and in each unit. The page should feel light enough and allow the content to take center stage and be consumed at a proper pace. Informal beta testing informed final decisions.
Topics like quantum physics are hard enough.
I created a design brief and assets to be used on landing pages, social media, in-course graphics, and collateral.
In-course graphics might be infographics, illustrations, motion, or interactive. Like any good design brief, it made sure they all felt connected, but more than usual things like color use and visual analogy had to be consistent throughout as a further aid to learners grasping this inherently cryptic subject.
Typically, I led a team to do all visuals, but on this one I did all in-course graphics and story-boarded, created, or creative-directed motion graphics. It was a very challenging topic to expect designers to grasp.
The explainer video is a nice piece of tight visual analogies coupled with concise explanations for difficult concepts.
